The University offers support to assistant staff to increase their vocational skills and to gain qualifications which are directly relevant to their work. This gives departments and the wider University the opportunity to develop skilled and qualified staff for the future, and to provide greater flexibility for succession planning.

The primary means of providing vocational training is through apprenticeships. This applies to new staff and existing staff wanting to progress in their current career.
